Attacking Mahi Pair Gyotaku - Original, Unframed. 24"x36"

$1,300.00

This is an Original, Hand made Gyotaku of two mahi-mahi attacking a school of greenbacks. made with Acrylic ink on Thai Mulberry paper. The eyes on every fish were painted to match the real thing with Acrylic paints.

The print was then flattened using traditional Urauchi methods and backed with an additional layer of Thai Mulberry paper.

Each Original is hand signed and marked with my Japanese Hanko (Name Stamp).

This fish was caught in Key West Florida. The Bait fish used in the print was given to me by a local Charter captain.

Gyotaku prints are a unique, artisanal form of documenting and remembering a prized catch that began in Japan in the mid-1800's. They are a wonderful physical representation of a cherished memory you had while catching or hunting these beautiful fish. Gyotaku prints make great talking points and are perfect starters for wild fish tales.
