For the Love of Fish

I have spent my entire life immersed in and around water. Born in Maui, Hawaii, and raised in Sarasota, Florida, I developed an intense passion for the ocean and its inhabitants from an early age. My youth was filled with surfing, snorkeling, fishing, and simply enjoying the beach and water. As I grew older, my love for the ocean expanded to include scuba diving, freediving, and spearfishing. This deepened my fascination with the intricate details, behaviors, and personalities of various fish species.

I cherish the idea of catching a fish to bring home and eat, always striving to do so in the most ethical and sustainable way through spearfishing. I take great care to ensure the fish is handled respectfully, minimizing its suffering. I pride myself on using the entire fish for food and honoring its life by creating beautiful Gyotaku art.

Gyotaku is not only visually stunning but also serves as a meaningful way to preserve memories. Whether it’s your first fish, your biggest catch, or a memorable fish from a special trip, these prints immortalize the animal and the experience. They capture the joy and emotions of the moment, becoming cherished keepsakes and conversation starters.

In crafting Gyotaku, I draw on my extensive underwater experience to infuse life into my images, capturing everything from the delicate details of fins to the expressive beauty of the fish’s eye. I use traditional techniques combined with modern paints and high-quality natural papers. My Limited Edition Reproductions are produced with the utmost care, printed on archival paper using certified archival pigments.

I hope my Gyotaku prints bring a piece of the ocean I love into your home, to be enjoyed for generations to come.
