This is an original, hand made American Red Snapper Head Gyotaku. I like to call these images Portraits. This print was made from a 31" Snapper. This original print was made with Acrylic Ink on Thai Mulberry paper. This Print has also had the wrinkles removed with the traditional Urauchi method and backed with white Japanese Masa paper. Be advised, There are some small light brown discolorations on the bottom of the image from the wood it was flattened on during the handmaking process.
This print is hand signed and marked with my Japanese Hanko (Name Stamp).
Stylish Gift wrapping is available. I use Various Mulberry papers and a wax seal with my Hanko stamp. A Gift note can also be printed on beautiful Mulberry notepaper. This add on wrapping will cost $30.
Gyotaku prints are a unique, artisanal form of documenting and remembering a prized catch that began in Japan in the mid-1800's. They are a wonderful physical representation of a cherished memory you had while catching or hunting these beautiful fish. Gyotaku prints make great talking points and are perfect starters for wild fish tales.
