American Red Snapper Gyotaku - Original, Unframed. 24"x36"

$600.00

This is an Original, Hand made American Red Snapper (ARS) Gyotaku made with Acrylic ink on Thai Mulberry paper. The eye is meticulously painted to match the real thing with watercolor paints. This is a raw print, with no touch ups performed except the eye.

The print was then flattened using traditional Urauchi methods and backed with an additional layer of Thai Mulberry paper.

Each Original is hand signed and marked with my Japanese Hanko (Name Stamp).

This fish was caught out of Sarasota Florida, spearfishing in 127ft of water. the fish measured 29" and is my largest ARS that I've shot to date.

Gyotaku prints are a unique, artisanal form of documenting and remembering a prized catch that began in Japan in the mid-1800's. They are a wonderful physical representation of a cherished memory you had while catching or hunting these beautiful fish. Gyotaku prints make great talking points and are perfect starters for wild fish tales.
